Fishing Derbies

The Monterey Bay Veterans, Inc. takes tremendous pride in our annual fishing derbies. This is the time when you get to witness, first-hand, the camaraderie of the disabled veterans and the physically challenged community. In addition, we get to watch them enjoy life and perform activities that they would not normally get a chance to. Their competitive nature shines through!
Our sponsors offer
prizes to those who catch the biggest fish! All of our derbies are free
of charge, but you must apply, as space is
limited.
The first derby of the year, The Wheelchair Salmon Derby, begins in the Spring. The derby traditionally begins Friday night with registration and a complimentary dinner. Everyone meets the following morning at 5a.m. Participants are eager to load onto their individual boats. Party boats are hired, and private skippers volunteer their time and boats for the event.
The event is not limited to disabled military veterans. The derby is open to all physically challenged members of the community. Our derby has grown to such an extent that we added more days of fishing.
Following the final fishing trip
everyone, from the physically challenged participants to the volunteers,
are invited to an banquet to award prizes to the top anglers.
Our second derby is the Wheelchair Rock Cod Fishing Derby which is held in the FAll. The derby begins Friday night with pre-registration and a dinner. On Saturday, everyone meets at 6a.m. to check in and enjoy a continental breakfast, and then board the boats. On Saturday afternoon we host a banquet for the sponsors, participants and the volunteers to thank them all for all their hard work.
If you would like to participate in one of these major events, please fill out the Registration Form below and send it to the address indicated on the form.
